Sleep

Can Sleep Deprivation Cause Brain Damage?

UNDERSTANDING YOUR SLEEP IS THE FIRST STEP IN IMPROVING IT

Dreaming Through Sleep Cycles:

Sleep is cyclical. On any given night, an average adult experiences four to six sleep cycles that are roughly 90 minutes long and include 4 distinct stages: 3 non-REM stages and 1 REM stage.

For decades it was believed that dreams only occurred during rapid eye-movement (REM) sleep. Modern research has demonstrated that dreams occur during non-REM sleep as well, particularly during the lighter N1 stage at sleep onset. However, the experiences of these dreams are distinctly different from REM dream.

Non-REM dreams tend to be:

  • Shorter
  • More realistic
  • loser to ordinary waking thoughts

REM dreams are:

  • Longer
  • Stranger
  • Typically more emotional

REM dreams often mix together fragments of real memories and unrelated experiences into a story.

This distinction matters, because it tells researchers that dreaming isn't a single, unified phenomenon. The conscious experience of a dream is shaped by the specific brain networks that are most active during that particular moment.

Our Services

At Friedel Clinic our Sleep technology employ a sleep monitoring technology called polysomnography (PSG). Brain activity, heart rate, respiratory rate, and movement are measured, but Brain activity gives the most precise data about a person’s sleep. Our Sleep monitoring technology (Muse S2 & EMAY SleepO2 Pro) hardware is equipped with sensors that measure these biomarkers to monitor sleep as precisely as PSG. On the graph, we’ll see how the signal from Muse’s sensors compares with that of the PSG in tracking sleep stages (Wake, N1, N2, N3, and REM sleep). The EMAY SleepO2Pro tracks overnight oxygen saturation levels (SpO2), pulse rate, and nasal airflow.

SLEEP MEASUREMENT?  It's about your brain

Deep Sleep Stimulation

Tracking Your Sleep

The only way to get an accurate sleep measurement is by monitoring your physiological data, brain waves, heart rate, and respiratory rate throughout the night. Muse is making this possible from the comfort of your own home, the first time this method is available outside a sleep center.

We use the MUSE Headset S2 to track Your Sleep

Our sleep tracking system using the MUSE Headset enables you to track your sleep patterns over 14 nights, capturing your actual sleep pattern. This allows you to make adjustments and continue tracking your sleep for an additional 14 nights, ensuring your changes are taking hold and improving your sleep.

SleepO2 Pro Sleep Monitor

With our Sleep technology we use the POWERFUL EMAY Sleep02 Pro Sleep Apnea Monitor.

You wear it on your wrist to record your blood oxygen saturation level, heart rate, and air flow continuously.

Specially designed soft silicone O2 sensor stays on your finger comfortably and never slips during the whole night.

Soft-touch tube to monitor air flow is designed to minimize discomfort. The gentle nature allows for a longer term of use per tube without experiencing discomfort.
